AWS Services investigated the Effluent pits at Nufarm, Laverton. It was found that the saline pits were causing corrosion to reinforcement and spalling of the concrete.
It also came with a bigger problem of soil contamination due to leakage.
AWS provided a fool proof solution to the problems by conduction of abrasive sand blast, installation of new concrete slab to the base, application of zinc rich epoxy primer to all the exposed reinforcement and repairing the concrete cancer.
